wedding bliss

i missed out on last week's "show us your life" post brought to the blogging world by kelly's korner because i was out of town. this week, i am showing my dress, a few of my very favorite pictures from that beautiful day, and also our wedding party!
i fell in love with my dress...well, the mid-section of the dress...in a magazine! i knew it was the one for me...and as it turned out, it was the only dress i ever tried on! it was tough finding it so i could try it on, but once i did, i knew it would be the dress i wore to marry my dear, sweet, wonderful austin!! this is the exact picture i saw in a magazine and tore out for my wedding book: (please forgive the wrinkles...it's been in a box folded ever-so-neatly!!) the following picture is one of me in the front of the sanctuary.
isn't this next one cute? austin and i chose not to see each other before the ceremony, but this was taken pre-wedding! he was put into the room behind the door and then i was brought along from another room soon after. we held hands across the door and said "hi" to each other without ever seeing the other! i call it the "no peeking" pose! the next two are the sweetest pictures i have ever seen! i love everything about both of them! you can see the detail in my headpiece in both of these. it was handcrafted by my brother-in-law (of all people) after a similar one i found online had a $300+ price tag! no thank you! he studied the picture and set to work on this perfect, beautiful headband! i am still so proud of it 5 years later! in the kissing picture, you can see my "something old"...a pair of diamond platinum earrings that belonged to my great-grandmother. i borrowed them from my aunt, who is the current owner. (fyi, my something borrowed was the veil from my best friend, riley! my something blue was the pair of blue sequined flip flops i wore under my dress!)
the last two pictures show our lovely wedding party! i love love love the plaid skirts my girls wore. i had the dresses made from a caramel colored taffeta and coordinating plaid taffeta. they were the most gorgeous bridesmaids ever! i love them all dearly...from left to right: stephanie, anne (from germany), sunni, (me), riley, camille (flower girl), kimberly, and christina! in the full wedding party picture, what i love most is the non-traditional pose. everyone is paired with the person they walked in with, but not in the long-line-on-either-side pose that is so common!
i am so thankful for the memory of that day...and also all the memories that have been made since then! God is good!
have a great day!
