it's nursery time!!

this was a fantastic weekend!
friday afternoon, austin and i took our new best friend, "laser level," into the bland oatmeal-colored room that is being transformed into owen's room! we very carefully worked for nearly 3 hours taping a random grid design onto one of the four walls. we used 3 different tapes...tapes which we called "thick," "medium," and "skinny." by the time all was said and done in the taping stage, you would have thought thick, medium, and skinny were people we both knew! haha! it was fun working side by side taping...until we were both pretty sore for various reasons...him because of the consistent pressure that was needed to hold the level steady, and me because of the up and down of getting tape quickly and accurately from side to side and top to bottom! in any case, it was a blast working with my dearly beloved in our little boy's room.
we had plans of taking pictures at "every stage" of the process, but with the excitement of the project and an impromptu garage sale "hosted" at our house to help out a friend, we sort of went straight from horizontal lines to finished product! oops! oh well, here is a not-so-good picture of the horizontal stripes!
after the randomly placed stripes were taped from wall to wall, it was time to do the same random placement from floor to ceiling! that was a much easier part of the taping stage for some reason. welcome back "thick," "medium," and "skinny."
austin and i were exhausted from the 6:00-9:00 evening sale (as well as our few hours of taping earlier in the day) and sort of took it easy until mom and dad showed up sometime after 9:00.
saturday morning was day 2 of the garage sale, but i was in and out visiting with mom who was, at this point, beginning the painting stage! i also had several nursery projects to work on so i was doing some of that during "my-feet-are-swelling" moments! without boring anyone with too many more details, the project wrapped up about 3:30 on sunday afternoon. touch ups...check! ceiling fan installation...check! clean up...check! mom and dad are now on their way to odessa, i am about to go prop my feet up for a nap, and austin will be gone teaching a drumline camp in andrews until friday night! :(
oh, and if you are wondering...the dogs are great! loving, lazy, happy, etc. they are just perfect!
without further ado, i bring you............................................
a random, rough-edge, block design of multiple colors! it was a design collaboration between austin, my mom, and myself. we LOVE LOVE LOVE it!

looking toward the block wall from one corner of the room.

the bottom of the wall and our adorable "puppy tales" bedding.

a new ceiling fan with fan blades decorated by yours truly.

the fan and the wall in one frame.

well, my pillows are calling. i love napping...and boy, am i ready for one now!

pleased with the results, :) carianne
