Owen Patrick Billett. You are a whopping 10 months old today. It seems that these month milestones are getting closer and closer together! By this time next month, your 1st birthday party plans will be in full swing and invitations will be nearly ready to mail out! Mommy has a lot to do between now and then.
Once again, this is not a checkup month, so we have approximate measurements for your weight, height, and head size.
Weight: approximately 25 pounds
Height: approximately 32 inches
Head Circumference: approximately 19.5 inches (49.5 centimeters)
You are still wearing a size 4 diaper and 12-month clothing. You have even worn a few smaller 18 month onesies. Many more of your clothes have been packed up since the 9-month post. So very sad. That makes 3 full totes that are packed away in your closet.
You are drinking no more than 24-25 ounces of formula a day. You have your morning bottle and nighttime bottle which are 7-8 ounces and then all sorts of foods for snacks and lunch. You have tried several new things this month. Some of them you liked :) and some of them were iffy :( We will try the iffy foods again another time or two before we decide that you don't like them.
These foods include:
Spagettios :) the first time you ate them and :( the next time you ate them
Strawberry Nutrigrain bar :(
blackeyed peas :)
YOGURT :) :) :) :) This is your most FAVORITE THING IN THE ENTIRE WORLD
spaghetti (both homemade sauce and jarred sauce with wheat noodles) :)
mandarin oranges :)
Gerber yogurt puffs :)
Beanie Weenies :(
doughnuts :) (Of course you are your mommy's boy!!)
Cheerios :)
roasted marshmallow :)
hamburger meat a mix between :) and :(
oatmeal :(
sugar wafers (vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry) :)
mashed (fresh) banana: :)
lasagna :)
Reddi Whip :) Pictures below including a similar memory when Deuce was a baby!

Grammy loves her boys!
Overall, you have gotten a bit more picky when it comes to eating. I don't think it is so much the foods themselves as it is the mood you are in when it is time to eat. You are a bit of a strong-willed child, so what you say goes. Haha. Just kidding. We just make adjustments and move on. Sometimes Mommy thinks she has the perfect meal planned out for you (veggie, fruit, dairy, and a finger food or something cracker-like or crunchy) but sometimes you don't want it so we have had quite a bit of waste in the last several weeks.
You still eat baby food plain or mixed with rice or oatmeal cereal and have juice or water from time to time. You feed yourself pretty well, but only dry stuff like Cheerios, crackers, cookies, yogurt puffs, etc. Mommy still feeds you the wetter, squishier stuff from a spoon, but that is just because she can't seem to let you make a HUGE mess with your food (yet). We did experiment last night with macaroni and cheese, a whole sugar wafer, and a club cracker. You did pretty well getting it all into your mouth. We will do more and more of this sort of thing everyday so you can get used to feeding yourself. Sometimes when Mommy gets you out of your high chair, your seat looks like this:

...and your feet sometimes look like this. Hahaha!

...and your shorts look like this.

Your face often looks like this after you have had various feed-yourself-type foods.

You understand the concept of a spoon, but aren't quite ready for doing it all by yourself yet.

We go to the park a lot and of course since EVERYTHING belongs in your mouth, this is what happens from time to time.

Want to know how many teeth you have now? Eight!!!!!!! Your eighth one just came through last week. Speaking of teeth, you really like to grind them (as of the end of August). Namely, the top and bottom on the right side. You must like the sound or something, or maybe you like moving your mouth that particular way. All I know is that Mommy and Daddy aren't too fond of the sound or the action itself! From what I hear, the grinding is normal and we are not to worry. Most of the time, you don't mind having your teeth brushed, but then there are times you pretty much refuse. We do what we can! Just look at that tooth-filled smile!!

You sleep 10-12 hours a night still and take either 2 or 3 naps each day. Your longest nap is late morning/early afternoon so by late afternoon and early evening, you like to nap again. You are usually in bed between 9:00 and 9:30 each night. You LOVE when someone comes to get you in the morning or from a nap. You are always so happy as you stand there in your crib. You smile and giggle and smile some more. It is so much fun to see you so happy and well rested, ready for more fun!
As for your actions and interests, you like to crawl EVERYWHERE. Nothing seems to be off limits in your mind, so if you can get there, you are pleased with yourself.

You like to stand up whenever possible.

When you are very relaxed or just sitting around in someone's lap or in the high chair, you like to cross your feet. Oh, how cute you look!

You get into pretty much everything.

You LOVE clapping, whether it is your hands or two of your toys. When someone says "Yay" in a higher pitched, drawn out way, you love to smile and clap your hands. It is pretty adorable.

You have pretty much stopped clicking your tongue (which we miss), but you are repeating "mama" and "dada" after we say it to you with a little bit of association. Maybe. You say "mama" more than "dada" but you never look at me and call me "mama." YET!!
You didn't get a haircut this month, but you need one!!!! Check out this wild hair on your sweet head!!

You still LOVE LOVE LOVE to go outside. Sitting in the grass trying to eat things, taking walks in your stroller or buggy, blowing bubbles, swinging, and most recently ~ flying the kite that Uncle Kyle got you in China. You had such a fun time with Uncle Kyle that night!

You have been to your first 2 football games, both Coronado High School. The first game was a bit overwhelming for you with the team, whistles, band, crowd, etc, but you really had a fun time at your second game. The experience wasn't quite as scary for you. Look how cute you look in red!! (You will most likely be going to an Odessa High football game this coming Friday. Mommy went to Odessa High School and is excited to show you off to some of the Broncho fans!!)

You make lots of silly faces, cute faces, and scary faces! :) Here are some that got captured by the camera!

This past Saturday, Mommy and Daddy's friends, David and Jennifer, came over for dinner and the Tech vs. Texas game. They brought their baby boy Caleb who is about 7 weeks older than you!!
Caleb came in sleeping, but you wanted him to wake up NOW so you could play.

You tried everything you could to wake him up.

You even tried to sneak around Mommy who was trying to block your view. See? No area is safe from you!! :)

When he wouldn't wake up, you decided that you would play with his car seat toy.

FINALLY, Caleb woke up. Since you haven't really been around any babies before, you weren't too sure what to do. You started by "petting his face" and then graduated to hitting him in the head with one of your smaller plastic toys. Shame on you!

By the time the evening unfolded a bit more, you got the hang of this whole "having a friend" thing and we think you actually had a fun time.

You and Shelby are buddies! Well, YOU think so anyway. It seems Shelby gets annoyed with your constant interest in her, but she is a wonderful sport and lets you do whatever you want to her. Olive still doesn't like you at all so she just stays away from you altogether. (That is why we don't have any pictures of you interacting with Olive yet.) Olive DOES like you A LOT when you are eating because when you drop food, she is there to clean it up. Don't you feel so used? Mommy and Daddy let you pet Olive supervised since she does have some crazy fear of you and as long as you are gentle, both of you are just fine. Here are a few pictures of you and your buddy, Shelby.

So what can Mommy say to wrap up this month's post? You still like bath time, splashing and all. You still make some diaper changes difficult, but singing to you distracts you during some of your most squirmy times. You are very happy and seem to love your life! That makes Mommy and Daddy so excited and proud. We can't possibly love you more than we do right now, but tomorrow we will!! Love you to pieces, Little Fellow.
Love,
Mommy and Daddy
