1. I found out that my best friend's grandmother died. "Grammy" was someone I loved very much. I've seen her only a handful of times since moving from Odessa in 1997, but that didn't matter. I just loved her from afar and I think she knew that! I know she is in heaven with Our Lord and for that, I am comforted and thankful.
2. We experienced an Easter church service that was very different from what we have been used to for the past 10 years or so. The service and music were nicely done and we came home refreshed and recharged.
3. Having a busy toddler makes things interesting. Last year at this time, Owen was just over 4 months old...and this year he was definitely a more active participant. There was egg-dying, going through Easter Bunny deliveries, hunting eggs, and of course, his first Easter lunch (or lack there of, since he ate only 3 small pieces of a dinner roll).
4. I woke up more sore than I have ever been in my whole life...due to the yard work I wrote about in the post before this one. Man, talk about a whole-body workout!?!?!? Leg muscles, hand muscles, back muscles, arm muscles...they are all pretty much mush at this point. Today, they are better, but only slightly. I know it will work itself out over time, but I cannot remember another Easter when the simple act of moving made me feel like an 80-year-old woman. (No offense to any lovely 80-year-old women reading this!) :)
Needless to say, there were many things on my mind as the day came and went. Here are a few pictures that captured Easter weekend (post yard work, of course!!)
Saturday night, we dyed eggs. Gramommy, Mommy, Daddy, and Owen were there for the big event! Grammy and Papa went home late Friday night after Day 1 of the yard project. We wish they could have been here, but the animals and garden needed some attention!
We bought a Paas egg-dying kit with 12 colors (6 regular/traditional PLUS 6 extra). It was a little ridiculous if you ask me, but we did come away with some nice looking eggs.
Everything on the counter is a potential disaster now that Little One has realized the beauty of tippy toes.
"Oh alright, Mother. I will stop reaching for the cups of egg dye while wearing my new pjs."
"Hmmm, which color do I want to start with?"
"Whaaaat Mom?!? Can't you see that I am busy?"
"Hi."
Such concentration!
"What's going on in that cup?"
"Mom! I can name everything shown on this page of stickers!"

Owen received 3 Easter baskets. The frog basket was purchased at Hobby Lobby last year as Owen's first Easter basket. It's adorable, but not very big AT ALL, so we may be in the market for a new one in the next couple of years. We chose the minimal candy route so what you see here are 3 new books, a new wooden puzzle with hinged doors that open and close, a Hershey's cross, 2 new Hot Wheels, a recorder, some Goldfish crackers, a carrot shaped bag with Reese's Pieces, a small bag of assorted Jelly Belly jelly beans, and a card. The pale blue basket on the far left is from Grammy and Papa. They brought it with them from Odessa with a few fun treats inside...a bag of mini M&Ms, a rubber duckie in a sheep costume, a Lindt bunny, a little popping ball toy, a card with $5 for his piggy bank, and 2 new wooden puzzles. From Gramommy, Owen received 2 new wooden puzzles, sidewalk chalk, and a new Radio Flyer tricycle. You will see it in the pictures below! We decided his legs are a tad too short to control the pedals right now, but once he gets the idea, we will have NO CHANCE when it comes to catching him! Gramommy is also the one responsible for coordinating the egg hunt in Grammie Lu's backyard!
The duck basket is Mommy and Daddy's shared basket and the card and chick candies came from Mom and Dad. They gave us $20 which we added to our "date night" envelope. Billie Lu gave us some candy and $20 each! Thanks to all the wonderful Easter Bunny helpers out there! :)

FINALLY...as the day was drawing to a close, we got a family picture. It's not the Easter photo I dreamed of...coordinating Easter outfits (2 out of 3 ain't bad, I suppose) and a big grin from The Boy...but I like it. We are all exhausted beyond belief, but...
We are happy.
We are blessed.
We are a family.
What did we do following this picture? We all came home and took a family nap. The one of us who ate only 3 bites of his dinner roll woke up one hour later crying and hungry.
The nap was good while it lasted. :)
