Jacen and Owen met each other for the first time at Halloween, but this was their first time to really play together. Or so we thought. :) Stephanie and I were laughing at times because each of our sons spent time playing as far away from the other as possible most of the 2 hours we were there. That, of course, meant Stephanie and I were also as far away from the other as possible keeping up with our respective busy toddlers. (Jacen will be 2 on May 31, and Owen, as you already know, just turned 18 months.) It was a fun time and we are looking forward to more time spent together...hopefully soon!
Here are some pictures from our time at The Science Spectrum!!
Owen got a kick out of this little push fire truck. He sat in it several times while we were there.
Rocking on this "zebby" was lots of fun.
Owen carried this little ladybug car around when we first got to the "(age)5 & under" room.
One of the few pictures I have of Owen and Jacen within 3 feet of each other!! Owen was so funny because he kept taking toys from one station to the next station. In this picture, he has cars from the last place he played.
"Mom!! Look at that balloon!! It is SOOOO big."
There are buttons at the base of the balloon (in the basement/bottom floor) that you can hold for 30 seconds and then release it to go straight up to the top floor! We got to see it in action a couple times, but Owen still kept an eye on it at all times!
Owen liked watching this little boy on the "machinery." (Sorry to the little boy's parents for not getting permission to post this picture.) I just thought it was neat how interested Owen was! Maybe he'll try it next time we go!
There are several wooden vehicles that kids can crawl into and play in. Owen loved spinning the helicopter blades.
Keeping an eye on "the" balloon.
You can see the base of the balloon station if you look down past the glass wall.
Owen spent lots of time in the fire truck. He liked pressing the buttons and spinning the steering wheel. As soon as he sat down, he saw the "+" sign in the middle of the steering wheel and said "Jesus." It was so cute!
This little roller coaster was fun. They start out at the top and end up going over two hills before coming to a rest at the bottom. Owen kept calling the little yellow car a "bus."
Owen liked the puzzle table.
Playing with an abacus. (That's my math-loving boy!!)
"Yep, the balloon is still there, Mommy!!"
Owen and Jacen looking at the fish. This is where I heard Owen say "fish" for the first time as opposed to "ish"...It was precious.
He really liked several of the fish we stopped to look at.
This picture is borrowed from Stephanie's blog. Owen and Jacen LOVED the bubbles. They had the best time splashing in the sudsy water.
This is one of my favorite things at the Science Spectrum! It's just a large mouth where kids go and play with the giant teeth!
Thanks to Stephanie and Jacen for such a fun morning! Can't wait to do it all over again!
Carianne (and Owen)
