Yes. We are 'that' kind of family...

This evening, we celebrated the birthdays of both of our adorable dogs. Olive was born 8 years ago (today) in Kermit, Texas. She was brought to me by Aunt Bev as a SMALL pup in August of 2002 when I was just beginning my teaching career in Andrews. She and I were the best of friends the two years we lived in Andrews together. Just the two of us girls. Isn't she a cutie? Shelby was taken in as a stray in October of 2007 and at the time, we figured her to be about 4 months old. We simply counted back from October 21 (the day we found her) and decided her birthday would be June 21. A couple weeks ago, Shelby turned 3! She, too, is a cute little pup, although it is hard to remember her this small. She has grown up to be quite a large girl! It is easier to celebrate their special days together, since...well...who would actually go to the trouble to have two separate birthday parties for their dogs whose birthdays are just a couple weeks apart? We seem to always wait until Olive's big day to "go all out" since she is the big sister. You know, seniority does matter! Our girls first posed with their human sibling (little brother, Owen) before he headed to bed. Please refrain from asking what is going on with his hair. I slicked it back after his bath and think it looks absolutely awful!!! He will NOT be sporting any more slicked back styles in the future. Dinner on this special evening included a spoon of ground meat sprinkled with Tillamook cheese. Only the best for our girls! We showed them their cake... ...and then it was time to eat it! I scraped off most of the frosting so they didn't go into sugar shock! Overall, they had a nice night. Too bad it's back to dog food, milkbones, and treats tomorrow! Happy 4th of July, everyone!
