You are 5 months old today! Since 5 months is not a "check-up" month with Dr. Dalton, we don't have your monthly stats. :( All we know is that you are taller, heavier, cuter, smarter, and more loving.
As of April 11, you are wearing a size 3 diaper. We gave some of your unopened, leftover size 2s to a friend and took the other 10-12 packages back to the store for store credit. You are well-stocked with size 3s, so hopefully you will wear this size awhile.
You have outgrown just about all of your 3-6 month clothes and most of your 6-month clothes. Currently, you are wearing 6-9 month and 9-month clothing.
You like to play in your interactive toys ALOT. You have quite a selection to choose from thanks to all our kind family and friends who loved you even before you were born! Let's see, we have the Jumperoo (which has already been raised to the 2nd of 3 notches), the Baby Einstein play center (which needs to be raised in the next day or so), the EvenFlo WalkAround center (which also has been raised to the 2nd of 3 notches), your swing, and your bouncer. You grab all the little things attached to each of them...you like to fit as much of it in your mouth as you can...you stare and touch and are always trying to figure things out...you like to hear the music that each one plays...and you like to make sure Mommy and Daddy are watching you play with it all! At this time, your favorite is probably the Jumperoo. You jump and play and laugh until you are worn out! You are so much fun and we love having all these cool toys to help you learn about the world in which you live!
You have been out on a few walks and really like being outdoors. Unfortunately, even though spring is here, we haven't been able to go out as much as I had hoped at this point. We have had very cool and rainy weather, so we have been forced to stay indoors alot. Once the weather is warm again, we will head on out for some outdoor fun!
You still like playing on your tummy and your back so we put you on the floor 2-3 times a day. You are rolling over every now and then, but not every single time you play on the floor. Mommy and Daddy like to get down there with you and make you giggle. It won't be long before you are scooting all around our house!
You are still drinking 7 ounces of formula 4-5 times a day, but you are now getting rice cereal several times a week (sometimes you just don't want it!!) We have stirred in a few mix-ins and you seem to REALLY enjoy it. You love bananas and you love butternut squash! Before long, you should be able to eat the food as is out of the jar. You will be tasting sweet potatoes and pears in the next week or so.
You now think you have control of your bottle and like to fling it all over the place. We still hold it for you, but you push it out of your mouth and get very squirmy, which makes for some interesting feedings. You are so adorable in the process though. Something else that cracks us up is when you see your bottle in either one of our hands. You start leaning toward it with an open mouth. It is almost as if you are saying "Hurry up already!!"
You have discovered that your feet are fun to hang onto. You don't put them in your mouth yet, but you throw them up into the air when you are on your back, and you stare at them when you are sitting up. You stand very well on Mommy and Daddy's lap when supported, so you will have nice strong legs when you decide it is time to crawl and then walk!
You are sitting up with some help, but you aren't completely independent yet. We have worked on this skill with you both on the floor and also the couch. You do better on the couch.
You like to do lots of things with your tongue. Sometimes you like to smack it, and other times you like to stick it out (slightly curled) and hoot like an owl. Of course you like to lick your hands too! They seem to have a permanent home inside your mouth these days!! Your smiles have become more irresistable, too. You have learned to position your tongue just right so Mommy can capture a perfect picture!
You LOVE to smile at Olive. You just stare and smile, and it looks like you are hoping that the two of you will be great friends.
You are a FUN, HAPPY, and AMAZING little boy. You have captured our hearts and we love that God chose you to be our son. Thanks for making our lives so much better, so much brighter, and so much more blessed. You are a priceless treasure, Little Man! We love you more than you could ever know!
Here are some pictures that capture some of our days since Easter!

Cute little summer outfit from Aunt Riley and Uncle John. Both the outfit and the bib say "I Play Ruff."
We went to visit Daddy on April 7th. Owen was very observant and kept his eye on the percussion section. Will he be a percussionist just like his Daddy and Uncle Kyle?? Hmmm. We shall see!
Cute baseball outfit and cap given to Owen by Uncle (Patrick) Ashley and Aunt Bev! Can't wait to take him to his first Midland RockHounds game in June!
Adorable little shoes from TJMaxx.

Happy 5 Months, Owen! We give Calvin his monthly heartworm pill on the 20th of every month - so I'm reminded of your monthly b-day on those days :) I especially love the baseball outfits and material. I cant wait to see you next month - you'll be almost 7 months by then!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, could he get any cuter!?!?! I wish we lived closer because I want to reach through this computer screen and love on him! :) Kristy
