in less than 9 weeks, owen will be a part of this world. amazing. these days, my time is spent tutoring, doing maintenance-type chores, working on getting things finished up in the nursery, sorting and organizing "stuff," etc. i really think i may get it all done, but then i add more chores and errands to the list, and then i am not too sure! my plan is just to enjoy the lovely fall season, do what i can when i can, and hope the rest falls into place at one point or another. life is so good right now and i can feel the blessings of God all around me.
we had our first baby shower this weekend at our church in brownfield. it was held in the fellowship hall immediately following the church service. some of the wonderful ladies in the church made sandwiches of various kinds and had chips, cookies, and punch for everyone in attendance! it was quite thoughtful...and quite yummy! following lunch came the presents. :) (there is another couple in the church having a baby, but only the dad was able to be at the shower. his wife is currently in the hospital with pregnancy-related complications, so he and his mom opened the presents for their little girl, ava.) it was so cute to see a table full of pink-wrapped gifts right next to owen's table of blue-wrapped gifts! our photograpeher snapped a picture of owen's table before the gift-opening began.
(our sister-in-law, cindy, was the "gift writer," niece morgan was the photographer, nephew deuce was the "gift-getter," and niece nina labeled herself "the observer.")
owen received alot of nice things: diapers, wipes, clothes, a few toys, a bumbo with tray, blankets, giftcards and money...we are so blessed by wonderful people in the church. here are a couple pictures of the "spread" once we got it all home, unloaded from the car, sorted, and "posed."
the following pictures are just some candid shots during the shower.
we are very much looking forward to next weekend, october 3, when we will have a shower hosted by some of my dear friends and family in odessa. i am excited about the shower and can't wait to visit with people i don't get to see often (or haven't seen in a very very long time). fun will be had by all!!
until the next post,
carianne
